<p>The 325th Fighter Wing was established at Hamilton AFB, CA in June 1948, operating the F-61 and F-82. The unit relocated to Moses Lake AFB, WA and McChord AFB before disbanding in February 1952. The 325th was reactivated as a Fighter Wing (Air Defense) in October 1956 at McChord AFB, operating F-102As until 1968 when the unit switched to F-106As. The wing maintained a large detachment at Osan AB, RoK from February 1968 until inactivated in July 1968. The unit was redesignated the 325th Fighter Weapons Wing at Tyndall AFB in July 1981 as the flying component of the Air Defense Weapons Center. The 325th was redesignated as a Tactical Training Wing in 1983. The unit converted from the F-106A/B to the F-15A/B April 1982, and was redesignated 325th Fighter Wing in August 1991. The wing began the gradual upgrade to the F-15C/D version, but still had a small number of A and B models on strength.
